GhanaWeb is a vertical portal publishing everything related to the country Ghana. Aside news from Ghana, we offer background information, opinions, the facility to listen to over 200 Ghanaian radio-stations, classsifieds, a social network for Ghanaians and many more.



The portal was launched by a privately owned company in 1999 and operates under the laws of the Netherlands. Through this legal setup, we publish news from Ghana in a completely independent and neutral manner. Also, we have established a platform where Ghanaians can express themselves freely through opinion articles and by commenting on the news without being censored.

GhanaWeb is however a medium made for and by Ghanaians.

The news on the portal is updated by a team of editors who write articles or aggregrate from a wide range of Ghanaian media. The wide range of different media (print and online) from which we aggregrate ensures a balanced coverage of the news in Ghana.

Our portal is constantly being improved and extended by Ghanaian web developers and web designers. At a functional level, the portal is designed to meet the requirements of the 3 million unique visitors who patronize ghanaweb.com each month. At a technical level, the portal is constructed to load smoothly and reliably even in remote parts of Africa.

Our visitors are predominantly Ghanaian.

Historically, GhanaWeb has been very popular amongst the millions of migrant Ghanaians living in the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands and many other countries. This segment of our audience is very loyal, in fact, many visitors from the early years still visit us daily.

Police calm protest in KNUST SHS following death of student after alleged neglect over Covid-19 fears

Armed police were brought in on Tuesday, July 7, 2020, to restore order after students of the KNUST Senior High School went on a demonstration over the death of one of their colleagues on campus. They accuse school authorities of leaving the boy, who complained of stomach upset. unattended to for almost three hours in the care of his colleagues due to the fear of  Covid-19. Videos captured by some students of the KNUST SHS, show the deceased groaning in pain supported by some of his colleagues on campus. According to  Luv FM ’s Erastus Asare Donkor, the student died later at a health facility. Patapaa sacked from German hospital for being black Ghanaian singer, Patapaa Amisty, has waded into the racism fight with a bitter experience he encountered in Germany. The artiste, born Justice Amoah, disclosed how he was maltreated as a black man in a German hospital he had visited with his sick girlfriend Speaking on Adom TV’s  Ahosepe Show , the ‘One Corner’ hitmaker said when they traveled back to Germany after a visit to Ghana, his girlfriend took ill. According to him, it was around 10:pm Ghana time when his girlfriend, Queen Patapeezy’s discomfort worsened and as caring as he could be, he followed her to the health facility. To his dismay, upon seeing him, the doctor, in German language, questioned his presence for being black, and moreover since he was not a patient. The singer added that he was saddened by the incident considering how hospitable Ghanaians are when it comes to the White community in the homeland.
